During COVID-19 the Victorian Commission for Gambling & Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) is supporting Takeaway Food Businesses to Fast Track licence applications.

Short Courses Australia (SCA) provide contactless end-to-end application support.

On enrolment the nominated small business owner is enrolled into pre requisite essential training and allocated an SCA Consultant.

Training in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and New Entrant Training (NET) is completed via classroom or live contactless teleconferencing, using ZOOM, FaceTime or Skype.

The SCA Consultant commences work immediately to Prepare, Submit and then Monitor the Renewable Liquor Licence Application with VCGLR.

 

About the Renewable Liquor Licence

 

Takeaway Food Businesses are eligible to obtain a Renewable Liquor Licence that allows the sale of 6 Units of Beer or 6 Units of Pre-Mixed drinks or 1 Bottle of Wine with each Takeaway or Home Delivery.

Until September 2020 the Victorian Commission of Gaming Liquor & Racing (VCGLR) is waiving the licence application fee ($480.80) to help takeaway businesses Fast Track the transition of their operations during COVID-19 trading restrictions.

This liquor licence requires that a meal must be ordered to allow Takeaway or Home Delivery of alcohol. A takeaway food business cannot just deliver alcohol.

A Takeaway Liquor Licence can generate an additional $15.00 to $50.00 revenue per order, whilst helping to Maintain & Win New Customers.

 

Application Processing Time

 

The VCGLR is assisting small business in Victoria to Fast Track the licence application pocess. 

An SCA Consultant will monitor the application process to ensure that the licence is approved within a 4 to 6 week time period.

To enable the application to be processed within this time frame the SCA Consultant will:

  • Assist the takeaway business to correctly display the licence application in the shop front window, facing the footpath, for 28 days, as required under Victorian Law;
  • Facilitate the completion of the VCGLR accredited Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA);
  • Facilitate the completion of the VCGLR accredited New Entrant Training;
  • Prepare, submit and lodge the takeaway business licence application to VCGLR;
  • Monitor and liaise with VCGLR through the application process to enable the licence to be approved within a 4 to 6 week window.
